Art Update Coming Soon

Hello everyone!

Thank you for giving Patches a warm reception! Patches was a ludum dare title and I never expected it to do anything but that. Then a bundle came along and, having nothing else, I added Patches to it. Needless to say, people actually tried it.

People are still trying Patches Of Adventure today. You have no idea how shocked I am.

However, it has recently been brought to my attention that Patches has been flagged as a virus or malicious by several different anti-virus software.

The smart thing to do in this situation is to trust the software.

My older computers have had a couple viruses and issues on them over the years (including a hacking scare that included my email and twitter account). So I am going  to say the smart thing and tell you this: Trust your anti-virus software.

If you have downloaded Patches in the bundle or recently, run an antivirus scan on your computer and delete Patches from your system.

It's safer for everyone that way.

However, I DO have some good news: Patches of Adventure is going to get an art update!

There was a lot of things I wanted to do with Patches when I made the game. I wanted a full Zelda-like adventure. With puzzles, bosses, items that gave different abilities, the works.

Then I remembered that I was in ludum dare and didn't have time for everything. So I crunched down as much as i could and ended up with what I had.

Of course, considering my talent level it didn't receive a lot of attention back then when I submitted the finished game.

Would I be able to make a different game now? I don't know.

What am I able to do now though?

Well, now, I am able to give the game a little art update.

I don't know when it's coming, but it should be soon, as far as the rest?

Well, I don't know. I would love to make the "complete" version of Patches, yet that all depends on the reception (and funding) the game gets. Patches is a love letter to Link's Awakening, and I would love to make a game similar to that.

So, what's next for Patches? Okay, here's a road map:

tl;dr

1. The game has been flagged as potentially harmful to your computer by several anti-virus software. I highly recommend deleting the game and doing a virus scan.

2. I will be rewriting the engine. In the meantime, Patches will not be available for download due to the virus warning.

3. While the rewrite is going on, the game will be made unavailable.

4. When the game is rewritten, it will be made available again.

5. The game will eventually receive a minor art update.

That's the schedule. The only thing that has a set time is the game will be made unavailable as soon as the blog post goes up.

I deeply apologize for inadvertently potentially causing harm to your systems. This will not happen again. Thank you for showing Patches Of Adventure your continued love and support. Thank you for your patience while I update the game.
